Progress on WMMA Public Policy Priorities
By John Satagaj
This year, WMMA has been working on five top priorities--estate tax repeal, making direct expensing increases permanent, modernizing the tax depreciation schedules, dealing with rising health care costs, and securing a federal statute of repose. At this point we have some reason to be optimistic about at least three of our efforts...

Brooke Baldwin Wisdom, member of the Education & Scholarship Committee and Executive Editor of Modern Woodworking magazine, did a great story on our program, which appeared in the March issue of Modern Woodworking. She again did an article, the COVER story, in the April issue. Modern Woodworking is highlighting the importance of education to the future of our industry...

There were an additional 6-8 that attended the fair and dropped by the WMMA booth...

I am writing to you to familiarize you with Delancey Street in hopes that you will be able to provide Delancey Street with a donation of various tools and/or equipment for our vocational woodworking training school. Our woodworking school provides hands on training so that our residents have a viable job skill that they can take with them once they graduate. We make everything from furniture to cutting boards, but we are a small operation and cannot use machinery meant for volume factories. Our residents are learning the basics. We are really hoping that you can help...
