Member Enters Second Round of Student Sponsorship – A Win-Win Situation

by Todd Herzog, Accu-Router, Inc. (todd@accu-router.com)

I am pleased to report that Accu-Router, Inc. has selected a second Mechanical Engineering student (junior year) at Tennessee Technological University for inclusion in the WMMA® Scholarship Program. This is the second year in a row that our company has aligned the WMMA® program with Tennessee Tech. We had a very successful experience with the first M.E. student who was our summer intern in 2003 for two months. Philip is now a senior at Tech. He will be at WIC 2004 to be part of a panel presentation at the WMMA® Business Session.

Our primary machine tool faculty advisor/faculty contact at Tennessee Tech has offered Accu-Router the opportunity to submit up to six engineering projects with a minimum length of six months available to identify a solution for assigning to M.E. student groups as "live projects." He did this "since Accu-Router has now produced two consecutive year scholarships for their program." We consider this offer to be of utmost value and interest. We have every intention to supply the projects for the students to work on. Frankly, Accu-Router needs this type of external engineering support to compete in the global marketplace, where foreign competitors receive direct financial aid from their governments. This research relationship is a direct, tangible benefit and outgrowth of the WMMA® Scholarship Program.
