FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WMMA Publishes ANSI O1.1 Checklist
As the Secretariat of the ANSI O1.1 Committee, the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America (WMMA) strongly encourages all builders and users of woodworking machinery to read, understand and incorporate the ANSI O1.1 2004 Standard into its business. The WMMA is committed to providing the woodworking industry with knowledge on how to comply with the O1.1 Standard. WMMA President Jim Laster states, "As designers and manufacturers of machinery, we strive to make our products as safe as possible for the end user. The ANSI O1.1 2004 standard seeks to clarify the responsibilities for the manufacturer, re-manufacturer and end user of industrial woodworking machinery. With each member in this chain complying with the intent of this standard and good safety practice, we all gain a safer workplace."

The latest tool for manufacturers is the WMMA Checklist for ANSI O1.1 Compliance, to be used as an aid when designing and manufacturing woodworking machines.

Printed copies are available to WMMA members for $50 each. Non-members may order printed or electronic copies for $75 and educators may order copies for $35 each.

To purchase a printed version of the ANSI O1.1 Checklist, contact WMMA Headquarters Karen Boyle, P: 215-564-3484 x2238, E: kboyle@fernley.com or use this form.

Founded in 1899, the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America® (WMMA®) is a professional trade association composed of more than 210 U.S. manufacturers of woodworking equipment, cutting tools, and supplies and whose purpose is to promote the interests of its members serving the woodworking industry. Distributors, suppliers and consultants to the industry also belong to the association as Associate Members. Manufacturer members design, build and sell equipment, tooling, supplies, and components used in the manufacture of all types of wood products. Members' products are used in furniture, door and window, flooring, and kitchen cabinet manufacturing plants; plywood and particleboard mills; lumber mills; shipyards; mobile home and pallet manufacturing plants; home workshops; plus a wide variety of associated wood processing operations. Many members also serve the plastics, stone, and non-ferrous metals market machining aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous metals. WMMA® members' equipment is sold worldwide. To learn more about WMMA® visit www.WMMA.org.

Several years ago, WMMA® members voiced concerns over the future of manufacturing in this country. That concern was soon articulated within the NAM Council of Manufacturing Associations. Since then, WMMA® has been on the forefront of the Campaign for the Future of U.S. Manufacturing.
